Welcome! Bienvenue! Willkommen! Welkom!

Founded in 1976, we are one of the longest-established English-speaking mixed voice choirs in South Holland. Do you want to come and listen? Do you want to join us and sing? While we currently have a full complement of female voices, we are still welcoming new TENORS and BASSES – so find out more here. We assure you of a warm welcome – and we do NOT hold auditions!

We total around 80 members divided between Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass voices. English is the language of rehearsal but we take pride in our diversity of nationalities. We don’t run auditions and, while it is obviously an advantage, we do not insist that you can read music. We rehearse each Thursday evening in the British Junior School, located at Diamanthorst 16, The Hague (for a map, click here) from 19:45 until 22:00. Enjoying the experience of making good music is our primary objective.

We perform concerts at least three times per year. Details of upcoming performances are given on the Concerts page. Please come and listen!

Our Conductor

Sanda Audere

Sanda began her musical career at the age of six upon her acceptance to the renowned Riga Dom Choir School in Latvia. Here she took advantage of the many opportunities offered to her such as working with professional vocal ensemble ‘Putni,’ as well as appearing regularly in productions with the Latvian National Opera. Sanda graduated in 2011, gaining a secondary vocational education in both choral conducting and choral singing. Sanda read music with psychology at Royal Holloway University of London, where she studied conducting under the renowned conductor Rupert Gough, as well as singing with the Royal Holloway Chapel Choir. During her time with the choir, Sanda had the opportunity to perform in some of the most renowned concert venues both in The UK and abroad, as well as appearing as a soloist with the record label Hyperion. In 2016 Sanda completed her Masters in Musicology at the University of Amsterdam and has enjoyed singing with numerous exciting ensembles such as ‘Capella Amsterdam’ and ‘Ensemble Vocal De Lausanne.’ In addition to this, Sanda has taken part in projects such as the Kurt Thomas Cursus, Meesters&Gezellen, as well as performing numerous premiers of contemporary works with Orkest de Ereprijs. As well as appearing regularly as a singer, Sanda is enjoying conducting ‘Vocaal ensemble Animato’ (Capelle aan de Ijssel), ‘Archicapella’ (Den Haag), and is very much looking forward to working with The Cecilia International Choir!
